1957 Marx American Continental Express Hauler & Van Trailer in Original Box

1957 Marx American Continental Express Hauler & Van Trailer in Original Box

Extraordinary lithographed, embossed steel cab and van trailer from Marx. Complete with original box plus six 1957 cardboard mini-products. Incredible overall appearance. The cab was designed using contrasting colors drawn symmetrically with straight lines and arc patterns. This was colored red, yellow and black. It has extensive grille work which was separately attached. Its four tires are heavy tread solid rubber. They feel very close to plastic, but they are not. This was indicated in the original Sears description.

This is a steel litho truck, not tin. The van trailer has was lithographed with a silver base and detailed in with red, white and blacks. It has sealed metal edges all around the bottom and a pair of "locking" rear double doors The tires match those on the cab. On each side the "A.C.E." company logo is shown shadowed in big, red block letters and outlined with silver. A red stripe with the full company name lithoed in white appears just below. Authentic details like running lights add to the realistic look of the toy. Locking hitch mechanism keeps trailer securely attached.

Also includes six, small cardboard boxes printed identically to the 1957 products they represented (Colgate Dental Cream, Domino Pure Cane Sugar, and F&F Cough Lozenges.

The original box is illustrated with two repeated drawings of the hauler from front and rear perspectives. The toy was originally available at Sears for  $2.84.
